costaricacrime.com (the "Site") is operated by YPV LLC ("we", "us"). By using the Site or subscribing to our email service you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.
The Site is a free, informational service that presents aggregated crime statistics for Costa Rica derived from open data published by the OIJ (Organismo de Investigación Judicial). We also offer an optional monthly email summarizing these statistics for places you choose.
The figures on the Site are aggregated automatically from raw OIJ records and have not been independently verified by us. The underlying data may contain errors, omissions, reclassifications, or reporting delays, and our aggregation may introduce errors of its own.
The Site is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including accuracy, completeness, fitness for a particular purpose, or availability. The Site is for general information only. It is not legal, safety, security, relocation, investment, or professional advice, and it should not be the sole basis for any decision. Crime statistics describe reported incidents in an area; they do not predict individual risk.
Underlying crime data is published by the OIJ, Costa Rica, and used under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 (CC BY 4.0) license. Our charts, aggregations, and text are part of the Site. If you reuse figures from the Site, please attribute both the OIJ as the data source and costaricacrime.com.
You agree not to misuse the Site — including disrupting its operation, attempting to gain unauthorized access to its systems or data, submitting false information through its forms, subscribing email addresses that are not yours, or misrepresenting the Site's figures as official OIJ publications.
The monthly email is free and optional. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link included in every email. We may change, suspend, or discontinue the email service at any time. Sending depends on the availability of the underlying OIJ data and may be delayed or skipped in a given month.
The Site links to third-party websites, including the OIJ statistics portal. We are not responsible for their content or practices.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, YPV LLC and its members will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages, or for any loss or damage arising from your use of, or reliance on, the Site or its data.
We may update these terms from time to time. The "Last updated" date above reflects the current version. Continued use of the Site after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
